How to Create a Quiz — Part 1: Setting Up the Basics
In this guide, you’ll learn how to create a new fit quiz from scratch. Part 1 covers the initial setup: navigating to the quiz builder, choosing who the quiz is for, selecting body measurements, and picking a quiz type.
Step 1: Navigate to Fit Quizzes
From your Shopify admin, open the Smart Size Recommender app in the left sidebar and click Fit quizzes. This is where all your quizzes live — you can see existing quizzes, their type, status, and measurements at a glance.
To start a new quiz, click the New quiz button in the top-right corner.
Step 2: Choose Who the Quiz Is For
The first thing you’ll see is the “Who is this quiz for?” screen. Select the body type that matches your products:
Man — Men’s clothing and accessories
Woman — Women’s clothing and accessories
Unisex — Products that fit all genders
Boy — Boys’ clothing
Girl — Girls’ clothing
Dog — Dog apparel and harnesses
Cat — Cat apparel and accessories
Click the card that matches your product line to continue.
Step 3: Select Body Parts to Measure
Next, you’ll choose which body measurements your quiz should collect. The available options depend on the body type you selected. For example, a Women’s quiz offers:
Bust
Underbust
Waist
Hips
Shoulder
Arm
Inseam
Neck
Height
Weight
Toggle each measurement on or off depending on what’s relevant for your products. For example, a dress brand might enable Bust, Waist, and Hips, while a pants brand might focus on Waist, Hips, and Inseam.
When you’re done, click Next to continue.
Step 4: Choose a Quiz Type
Now select how shoppers will provide their measurements. There are three quiz types:
Prediction Quiz — Shoppers answer a few simple questions (like height, weight, age, and fit preference) and SmartSize’s AI predicts their body measurements. This is the easiest experience for shoppers and works great for most clothing brands. This quiz is only available if bust and/or waist and/or hips are selected.
Precision Quiz — Shoppers enter their exact body measurements manually. Best for brands where precise fit is critical (e.g., tailored or custom clothing).
Lingerie — A specialized quiz designed for bras and lingerie (only available for women)
Select your preferred quiz type — for most stores, we recommend starting with Prediction Quiz. Once selected, the card will show a checkmark and the Create Quiz button will become active.
Click Create Quiz to finalize the setup.
What’s Next?
After clicking Create Quiz, you’ll be taken to the Quiz Editor where you can configure your quiz in detail — including naming it, setting up size charts, adjusting fit settings, and customizing the shopper-facing design.
Continue to Part 2 to learn how to configure your quiz in the Quiz Editor.
