How to Create a Quiz — Part 4: Linking Products & Going Live
In Part 3, you configured the Advanced Settings and verified your quiz results. Now it's time for the final steps: linking your quiz to products so shoppers see it on the right product pages, and activating your quiz to go live.
Step 1: Link Quiz to Products
Scroll to the bottom of the Quiz Editor and you'll find the Link quiz to products section. This is where you tell SmartSize which products should use this quiz.
You can link your quiz using five different methods — click any of the buttons to add a filter:
Products — Select specific individual products
Collections — Link to entire product collections
Types — Match products by product type (e.g., "Dress", "Pants")
Vendors — Match products by vendor name
Tags — Match products by tag
You can combine multiple methods — for example, select a specific product and an entire collection.
Linking by Products
Click the Products button to open the product picker. You'll see a list of all your Shopify products. Use the search bar to find specific products, or scroll through the list.
Check the boxes next to the products you want to link, then click Select to confirm.
Linking by Collections
Click the Collections button to browse your Shopify collections. This is a great option when you want to link the quiz to an entire product category (e.g., all products in your "Women" collection).
Select the collections you want, then click Select.
Step 2: Set the Matching Condition
Once you've added your filters, you'll see a Condition setting that controls how they work together:
Product matches all of the above — The product must match every filter you've set (stricter)
Product matches any of the above — The product only needs to match one of the filters (broader)
For most setups, "Product matches any of the above" is the right choice — it means the quiz will appear on any product that matches at least one of your selections.
Step 3: Set Quiz Priority
If you have multiple quizzes that could match the same product (for example, a general "Women" quiz and a specific "Women's Dresses" quiz), the Quiz priority setting determines which quiz takes precedence.
The rule is simple: the lowest number wins. A quiz with priority 1 will be shown instead of a quiz with priority 2 when both match the same product.
Step 4: Review Matching Products
Below the priority setting, you'll see a matching products table. This shows you exactly which products will use this quiz, along with their current quiz assignment and priority.
This table is very helpful for spotting conflicts — if a product is already served by another quiz, you'll see a blue info banner:
"X of Y matching products are currently served by another quiz. Adjust the priority above if you want this quiz to take precedence."
Step 5: Activate Your Quiz
Once everything looks good — your size chart is filled in, your quiz is verified, and your products are linked — it's time to go live!
Scroll back to the top of the Quiz Editor and change the Status dropdown from Draft to Active. Then click Save.
Draft — Quiz is only visible to staff (for testing)
Active — Quiz is live and visible to shoppers on the linked product pages
🎉 That's it — your quiz is live! Shoppers will now see the size recommendation quiz on the product pages you linked it to.
Tips & Tricks
Here are a few helpful features in the Quiz Editor that can make your workflow easier:
Live Preview: Mobile vs. Desktop
The Live Preview panel in the top-right corner has two toggle icons that let you switch between mobile and desktop views of your quiz.
Mobile view (phone icon) — Shows how the quiz looks on a mobile device, with slider controls for height, weight, and age. This is the default compact view.
Desktop view (monitor icon) — Shows a wider preview with text input fields, a product image placeholder, and the full desktop layout your shoppers will see.
Use both views to make sure the quiz looks great on all devices.
Full-Screen Size Table Editor
If you have a large size chart with many sizes and measurements, working in the compact editor can feel cramped. Click the expand icon (the small arrow icon) in the top-right corner of the Size table section to switch to full-screen mode.
Full-screen mode hides the Live Preview and gives the size table the full width of the page — much easier for editing large tables.
