How to set your default unit (metric or imperial)

Choose whether shoppers see metric (cm, kg) or imperial (in, lbs) first in your size charts and fit quizzes — or let SmartSize auto-detect it from the storefront locale.

SmartSize can show shoppers metric (cm, kg) or imperial (in, lbs) measurements in your size charts and fit quizzes. To choose which system they see first, open Settings → General settings → Measurement unit and pick an option under Default measurement unit.

The dropdown has three options:

  • Store locale (auto-detect) — the default. SmartSize picks the unit automatically from the language and region your storefront is viewed in: imperial for US and UK English, metric for everything else.

  • Metric (cm, kg) — every shopper starts with centimeters and kilograms.

  • Imperial (in, lbs) — every shopper starts with inches and pounds.

Pick your option and click Save in the bar that appears — the change applies across your whole store right away.

💡 Tip: this only sets what shoppers see first — they can always switch between units with the cm/in toggle inside the fit quiz and size chart. Not sure which to pick? Leave it on Store locale: US shoppers get imperial and international shoppers get metric, automatically.
