Some merchants ask us to add a "preferred fit" question to the fit quiz, such as tight, regular or loose. We decided against it on purpose. Instead, SmartSize shows shoppers how each size will fit their body, so they can choose the fit they like with real numbers in front of them.
Why we don't ask for a preferred fit
People read these words differently. One shopper's "regular" is another's "slim", and a "loose" t-shirt is very different from "loose" jeans. The answer tells us more about the shopper's vocabulary than about the fit they want.
It can work against the garment's cut. Your products already have an intended fit. If a shopper picks "loose" for an oversized hoodie, we would push them a size up on a piece that is already designed to be roomy. That leads to returns.
Every extra question costs completions. Each step makes more shoppers drop off, and a confusing step costs even more.
What shoppers see instead
When the size recommendation is set to Detailed view, the result screen shows a mannequin and a Your fit tab. For every size, SmartSize compares the shopper's measurements with the size's measurements, area by area, and labels each one: Perfect fit, Tight, Too tight, Loose or Too loose.
Shoppers can also tap the other sizes to see what changes. Here, size S would be too tight at the bust and hips:
And size L would be loose at the bust and hips, and too loose at the waist:
A shopper who likes a relaxed fit can see exactly how much looser the next size up is, and choose it with confidence. It's the same result as a "preferred fit" question, based on real measurements instead of a guess.
How to turn on Detailed view
In SmartSize, go to Global settings.
Under Size recommendation, choose Detailed view.
Save. Every fit quiz that uses the store default now shows the detailed fit.
To use it for one quiz only, open that quiz and change its Size recommendation setting. It then shows as Quiz-specific.
💡 Tip: With Simple view, shoppers only see their recommended size. If fit preference matters to your customers, use Detailed view.
