The quiz is not available in my language

Supported languages and how to request a new language

Updated over 3 weeks ago

SmartSize automatically detects your store's language and displays the quiz in that language — no manual configuration needed. If the quiz shows up in English instead of your expected language, here's why and what you can do.

How language detection works

The quiz reads the active language from your Shopify store's localization settings. When a shopper views your store in French, the quiz appears in French. When they switch to German, the quiz switches too.

This happens automatically — you don't need to set a language inside the SmartSize app.

My language isn't on the list

If your store uses a language that isn't listed above, the quiz will fall back to English.

We add new languages based on merchant requests. If you need a specific language, just reach out to us through the chat widget — we'll prioritize adding it.

My language is supported but the wrong variant shows

SmartSize tries to match the closest available locale. For example:

  • fr-CA (Canadian French) → falls back to fr (French)

  • es-MX (Mexican Spanish) → falls back to es (Spanish)

  • pt-BR and pt-PT are both supported as separate variants

If the fallback doesn't feel right for your audience, let us know — we can add a regional variant.

The quiz shows in English even though my store is in another language

This usually means your Shopify store's localization isn't fully configured. Double-check:

  1. Go to Settings → Languages in your Shopify admin

  2. Make sure the language you want is published (not just added as a draft)

  3. Visit your storefront and confirm the page loads in the correct language

  4. Open the quiz — it should now match the store language

If the store is showing in the right language but the quiz still defaults to English, reach out to us — it could be a theme-specific issue we can help debug.

Need a language added?

Just send us a message through the chat widget with the language you need. We typically add new languages within a few business days.
